My research aims to enhance fairness and efficiency in digital platform markets by focusing on three main areas: 1.Within Platforms: Addressing market design issues, such as thickness (more participants), congestion (better matching), and trust/safety. 2.Among Platforms: Analyzing competition and antitrust issues. 3.For Platforms: Exploring the impact of data and AI on organizational management and strategy. To tackle these topics, my approach combines game theory, behavioral and psychological insights, as well as empirical investigation. This work supports different stakeholders—platforms, platform participants, and regulators—in achieving fairer and more efficient outcomes: For Platforms: My research addresses key issues in market design and seeks to solve asymmetric information problems that can deter transactions and undermine trust. I develop easy-to-implement interventions and mechanisms for real-world applications, some of which have already been adopted by digital platforms. Additionally, research is conducted to provide insights into the organizational management challenges that platforms may face when leveraging data and AI. For Platform Participants: The goal is to help participants achieve both individual and socially optimal outcomes, ranging from improved transaction quality and quantity to enhanced financial stability and well-being. For Regulators: Policy recommendations aim to foster healthy competition in markets (both intra-platform and inter-platform). This involves examining the effectiveness of existing policy interventions and identifying areas where additional regulation may be needed.
